The restriction on freedom of movement will not affect Iceland, Greece, Norway, Liechtenstein, Germany, Denmark, Finland, and Croatia, as the number of persons who have tested positive for the Coronavirus pandemic in these countries is lower compared to other countries.
Persons who wish to enter Estonia from Lithuania or Latvia and who do not show illness symptoms will be allowed to do so if they present a negative result of the Coronavirus test not older than 72 hours.
Citizens of Lithuania and Latvia who want to enter Estonia for study, work, health care services, or similar purposes are not obliged to test for the Coronavirus pandemic upon their arrival.
Last week, the country’s government announced that from February 22, citizens of Croatia, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Greece, Norway, Liechtenstein would be exempted from restrictions on freedom of movement when entering the country. The decision was taken after estimating the COVID-19 infection rates in these countries.
In total, 64,399 persons have contracted the Coronavirus in Estonia, as yet, based on Wordometers’ figures. The same source highlights that 584 persons have died from COVID-19, and 49,709 have been completely recovered in Estonia.
Even though Estonia has recently tightened its preventive measures to halt the disease’s further spread, it is seeking to facilitate the border crossing procedure long-term.
