Lithuania Shortens Quarantine Period for All Arrivals
Lithuania’s government has decided to keep all countries worldwide on its COVID-19 list of affected countries, due to a surge in the number of infections.
However, in its updated statement regarding the COVID-19 situation worldwide, Lithuania’s Ministry of Health has announced that the quarantine period will be shortened, from 14 days to 10 days for all persons wishing to enter the country, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
According to the announcement, all travelers arriving from the United Arab Emirates, Panama, Aruba, and Seychelles will be subject to milder isolation conditions, while stricter ones will be applied for those coming from Saint Lucia.
“Before arriving in Lithuania, all persons must register on the website of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) by filling in an electronic form and submitting the correct data, and the confirmation received (QR code),” the statement clarifies.
All persons who do not show any upper respiratory infection symptoms will have a shorter isolation period by undergoing the COVID-19 test procedure, not earlier than the 7th day after arrival, and receiving a negative result.
However, even if the quarantine period is shortened for the respective travelers, they will still be obliged to follow COVID-19 preventive measures imposed to halt the pandemic’s further spread.
Authorities in Lithuania previously revealed that from February 8 all persons wishing to enter the country would be obliged to present a negative result of the Coronavirus test, not older than 48 hours. Besides, travelers must also follow 14 days of mandatory quarantine rules.
Earlier this month, Lithuania’s government announced that it decided to remove Reunion and Martinique, Guadeloupe and Iceland, from the list of countries considered highly affected by the rapid spread of new transmissible variants of the Coronavirus disease.
In January, the country’s authorities stressed that they would put stricter preventive measures for all passengers, as the COVID-19 continues to attack many countries worldwide.
Lithuania has registered 191,264 cases, and 3,095 persons have died, as yet, based on Worldometers’ statistics.
