Croatia Is Europe’s Most Wanted Destination, Study Reveals
Croatia is also a tourist destination with a rich history; many visitors from all over the world come to visit its famous rugged Adriatic coast, which is filled with crystal clear beaches, and stroll in the cities of its countless picturesque, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Besides, Croatia also leads the recovery of Europe with a 132 per cent increase in overnight stays, compared to 2021, and beating other traditional Mediterranean competitors, such as Italy and Spain, to the number one spot.
Unlike Italy and Spain, which were two very strict countries regarding the reopening of travel restrictions, Croatia has had normal entry rules since May 3. As a result, foreigners have been allowed to visit the Pearl of the Adriatic without restrictions, without being subject to health documentation.
Despite widespread travel disruption, the tourism recovery in the Dalmatian heartland is still strong, with demand growing to new heights. Therefore, AirDNA’s latest monthly market review is proof of this, as Croatia is outpacing every other European nation in booking trends.
Of course, Croatia was not the only country that recorded a significant increase in bookings recently, as the list was quite extensive.
Norway ranks second, experiencing a 117 per cent increase in overnight guests, followed by Hungary with 97 per cent.
On the other hand, in 2022, a total of 7.2 per cent more nights were registered in Europe compared to 2019.
In this regard, AirDNA has emphasized that the industry has ‘fully recovered,’ with arrival figures exceeding the years before the pandemic. As a result, June marks the ninth consecutive month that the utilization rate has increased, reaching 58.2 per cent.
Moreover, Croatia’s extraordinarily underrated capital Zagreb and its financial center have enough attractions to keep tourists busy for days, from cool and unique museums like the Museum of Broken Relationships to medieval watchtowers and an iconic cathedral. In short, Croatia is an absolutely wonderful destination to be visited.
Previously, the travel intelligence platform, Mabrian, ranked Zagreb first as the best European city based on the value for money they offered in June 2022. In addition, compared to other destinations, Zagreb offered a very competitive accommodation price.
Second place was also taken by Athens, despite having better air connections than Zagreb. The Greek capital was ranked second because it has a slightly higher average price and lower satisfaction levels than Zagreb.
