Croatia to Simplify Process of Issuing Work Permits to Foreigners
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Croatia, the relevant authorities have already started preparing amendments to the Foreigners Law and the same pointed out that changes in this particular law remain a top priority, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Glas Slavonije explains that by making changes to the existing Foreigners Law, the Croatian government aims to harmonise with the acquis of the European Union regarding the entry and residence of nationals of third countries for the purpose of taking up jobs in Croatia.
Additionally, the same indicated that Croatia has decided to accelerate the process of issuing work permits to foreigners in order to employ qualified workers.
Even though the authorities did not make an official statement on why they plan to employ more highly qualified workers, it is believed that they decided to do so in order to deal with the labour shortages in certain fields.
According to Glas Slavonije, in collaboration with the Employment Service of Croatia, foreigners will now be able to obtain work as well as residence permits without having to undergo strict rules as before. The same pointed out that the new rules are set to come into force soon.
In addition to the above-mentioned, it has been revealed that Croatia is also working to make changes to its Salaries Law. The authorities have said that changes to this specific law are needed in order to put an end to the existing gap in the salary system.
The Croatian Ministry of Interior said that in line with the new law, the country will define a fair and sustainable wage system.
The changes that Croatia has decided to make to its Foreigners and Salaries Law come not long after the country officially joined the Schengen Area and Eurozone.
Croatia became an official member of the Schengen Area on January 1, 2023, and the country has also adopted the euro (€) as its currency, replacing the kuna (HRK).
Immediately after Croatia joined the Schengen Area and Eurozone, the Commission of the European Union came out with an official statement saying that this event marks an important milestone in the history of Croatia.
