Denmark Prolongs Entry Ban for 2 Religious Preachers Part of National Sanction List
Announcing the update made to the national sanctions list, the Danish Immigration Service said that two persons who have already been part of it will be subject to an entry ban for a new period of two years. In addition, the same revealed that one person has been removed from the list, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
The Danish Immigration Service explains that the country’s law which allows them to impose an entry ban on certain religious preachers aims to prevent everyone from undermining the values of Denmark.
The same stressed that all those who are added to the national sanction list are banned from travelling as well as residing in Denmark and in the bloc.
“A foreign national who is placed on the sanction list may not travel to or reside in Denmark or any other Schengen-area country. The entry ban is valid as long as the foreign national is placed on the list. Individuals are placed on the list for two years at a time,” the statement of the Danish Immigration Service reads.
The Danish Immigration Service further highlighted that if an individual that is part of the sanction list enters Denmark, they risk being fined or imprisoned for up to three years.
In addition to the above-mentioned, the Immigration Service of Denmark pointed out that initially the entry ban is given by the authorities for two years. After the two-year period is over, the authorities assess the case and decided to either prolong the ban or remove it.
“If new information is submitted during the period, the Immigration Service will by itself reassess if the foreign national should continue to be placed on the list,” the Danish Immigration Service added.
Religious preachers who are part of the list are eligible to require the Immigration service to reconsider their decision. In cases when the Immigration Service decides that an individual should still remain on the list after reconsidering the case, the decision can then be appealed to the Immigration Appeal Board.
