EU Advises Algerians Against Applying for Schengen Visa Through Intermediaries
Instead, the EU Delegation required all Algerians applying for a Schengen visa to be vigilant and ensure the authenticity of the documents they submit when applying for a visa.
Such a requirement comes after recent investigations have revealed a disturbing rise in falsified documents submitted by intermediaries on behalf of applicants, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
“Member States are noticing an alarming upsurge in fraudulent or falsified documents which, after verification, often turn out to be the work of intermediaries offering their services to obtain a filing appointment and compile the administrative file,” the statement of the EU Delegation in Algeria reads.
For this reason, the EU Delegation has required all citizens of Algeria applying for a Schengen visa to compile the required documents themselves carefully and not apply through intermediaries as they are often submitting fake documents.
In addition to the above-mentioned, the EU Delegation also reminded all Schengen visa applicants in Algeria that only certain service providers selected by the Member States are authorised to offer appointment slots.
At the same time, the Delegation reminded everyone once again that the appointment is free of charge, encouraging them not to apply through intermediaries, which in most cases, charge large sums.
Moreover, the Delegation said that Schengen visa applications through unauthorised intermediaries present a “high risk” as fake documents lead to the refusal of visas.
“Applying through an authorised intermediary presents a high risk of adding fraudulent or falsified documents to the files, sometimes even without the knowledge of the applicant, which will necessarily lead to a decision to refuse a visa,” the Delegation stressed.
Since Algeria has not reached any visa-free travel agreement with the EU, all of its citizens are required to obtain a visa in order to be permitted entry into the bloc.
Depending on the reason for travel, Algerians are required to apply for a different visa. Those wishing to enter the EU/Schengen Area for travel purposes need to apply for a Tourist Schengen Visa.
This type of visa permits all of its holders to stay in the bloc for a maximum period of 90 days within a 180-day period.
