

Indians, Turks and Serbs Were Issued Highest Number of National Work Visas by Germany in 2022
According to the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the country granted a total of 152,336 national work visas to foreigners in 2022, representing a significant increase compared to 2021, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Of all nationalities, data show that Indians were issued the highest number of work visas by Germany in 2022. Indians were granted a total of 17,379 work visas last year, with the majority of them, 8,613 work visas, being granted by the German Consulate General in Bangalore.
The second-highest number of work visas for Indians was granted by the German Consulate General in Mumbai (3,013), followed by the Consulate General in Chennai (2,483), the German Embassy in New Delhi (2,434), and the German Consulate in Kolkata (836).
Turkish nationals are the second-largest beneficiaries of work visas issued by Germany. Last year, a total of 12,542 nationals of Türkiye were issued a work visa.
The majority of work visas for Turks were issued by the German Embassy in Istanbul and the Consulate General in Ankara, with them issuing 6,410 and 4,735 national work visas, respectively. Moreover, the Consulate General in Izmir issued 1,397 national work visas to Turks last year.
In addition, a total of 11,792 national work visas were granted to Serbs, making it the third-largest group of beneficiaries. All of these visas were granted by the German Embassy in Belgrade.
Apart from these top three nationalities, Germany granted a large number of national work visas to Bosnians, Kosovars, Russians, Albanians, and North Macedonians.
Nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina were granted a total of 10,524 work visas by Germany in 2022. They are followed by nationals of Kosovo, who were granted 9,309 work visas, nationals of Russia, who were granted 6,975 work visas, nationals of Albania, who were granted 6,526 work visas, and nationals of North Macedonia, who were granted 5,796 work visas.
Apart from issuing a large number of work visas, in 2022, Germany also issued a high number of other national visas.
Last year, Germany issued a total of 393,083 national visas, and after work visas, the second and third highest number of visas was issued for spouse reunification and study purposes.
Germany issued 71,129 national visas for spouse reunification and 71,018 national study visas in 2022.
