Portugal Ranks Amongst World’s Top 10 Luxury Destinations for 2023 Study Reveals
Such estimations have been made through the recent study of the Luxury Traveler Holiday Habits for this year, conducted by the Conde Nast Johansens travel guide, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
In addition to Portugal, the following countries are also included in the top ten list of destinations that will receive luxury tourists this year: the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Croatia, the United States, as well as the Caribbean.
According to the study, at least 38 per cent of luxury travellers said they intend to spend more than €8,000 for each holiday period per person, which could total €32,000 by the end of 2023, based on the previous years’ trends.
As for the preferred dates for this year’s summer holidays, the majority of respondents said that they had planned them for September, followed by May and June.
The study of Condé Nast Johansens also stressed that for this summer, there is a preference for the country as well as mountain destinations.
Beach destinations have been considered by the majority of respondents for longer stays, while city destinations are reserved for short-term stays.
Among the top choices for the summer of this year were also mentioned cruises by a large number of respondents.
According to the report, a greater demand for complete holiday packages -including Spa as well as wellness experiences, oenology and gastronomy- will also be experienced.
Estimations indicate that luxury travellers over 55 will be the ones going on vacation.
As for related to their trips, a total of 53 per cent of the participants in the survey said that they will be away for a period between seven and ten days per trip.

The report of Vinci showed that Lisbon airport alone welcomed seven million passengers, which is up by 14 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Portugal was ranked among the countries where a new record in passenger figures was reached during the first quarter of this year.
