Qatar To Open an Embassy in Czechia
In addition, on Wednesday, October 5, Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, in a joint press conference with Czech President Milos Zeman, also signed an agreement on economic cooperation, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
“We had very fruitful negotiations that dealt with economic issues and international policy issues. Today we signed an agreement on economic cooperation, [as well as] a commitment that after approval by the European Commission we will adopt an agreement on mutual protection of investments, which is already ready. Earlier, we concluded an agreement on the exclusion of double taxation,” President Zeman also added.
According to Zeman, the Czech diplomatic mission in Doha is already working. He also noted that the foundations of long-term strategic cooperation between our countries have already been laid.
In addition, at the beginning of this year, the Czech Republic opened its embassy in Doha.
During the official visit to Prague, Al Thani said that he is looking forward to Zeman’s visit to Doha, which is preparing for the start of the FIFA World Cup in November.
“We admire the tremendous efforts that the State of Qatar has expended in preparing for the FIFA World Cup. We also commend the long-term vision to keep the newly built infrastructure operational long after the event to the benefit of not only the Qatari people but also the whole region and the world,” Czech ambassador in Doha Peter Chalupsky pointed out in this regard.
Al Thani reiterated Qatar’s clear position to resolve all disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
As Ambassador Chalupsky explains, despite the global economic turmoil, including the energy crisis in Europe, there are many new opportunities to deepen the Qatar-Czech partnership in the fields of investment, trade, and energy, taking into account that the development of these relations has taken a growing momentum in recent months.
According to him, both countries have a lot in common in terms of a truly strategic approach to the modernization of the economy through the construction of modern infrastructure, digitization, and investment in the latest technologies.
Moreover, the Ambassador highlighted that the tourism industry is among the main areas in which the two countries wish to deepen their cooperation, especially in the hotel and spa business, as well as the development of the wider tourist infrastructure.
