460 Airline Routes With Over 34,000 Rotations to Operate Towards Croatia During Summer 2022
In addition, this year, Croatia is leading the list of most desirable tourist destinations in the Mediterranean, AtoZSerwisPlus.comreports.
Through a statement issued on May 4, the Director of the Croatian National Tourism Board, Kristjan Stani?i?, stated that during the last two years marked by COVID-19, there had been a significant decline in air traffic, and therefore tourist trips in that period were realised mainly with their means of transport.
“However, this year, the recovery of air traffic has continued successfully as we are witnessing a significant increase in the number of flights. Thus, more than 460 airline routes with more than 34,000 rotations will operate towards our country during the summer, which is almost equal to the number of flights and rotations from the record 2019,” he also added.
According to the airports; data, the largest number of rotations, in general, is expected in Zagreb and Split with about 10,000 rotations, while compared to 2019, the largest increase in the number of rotations is expected in Zadar with +63 per cent and Rijeka with +8 per cent.
“Also, during the summer season, Croatia will be connected to 131 foreign cities, which is slightly less than the 134 cities Croatia was connected to in 2019. Most overall rotational connections will come with the markets of Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands,” the statement issued by the Croatian National Tourism Board reads.
During this summer season, 66 different airlines will operate on the routes between Croatia and international destinations. On the other hand, the companies that anticipate more flights are Ryanair, Croatia Airlines, EasyJet, Lufthansa, and Eurowings.
Besides, a study provided by some Austrian organisers revealed that Croatia is at the top of the most sought-after foreign destinations by Austrians.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, May 5, the Croatian National Tourism Board announced that a survey of about 12,000 participants, entitled “Travel Barometer 2022”, showed that Croatia was the top destination for Austrians.
Earlier, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics revealed that in February, the number of passengers arriving in Croatia by air reached 177,000, which is 337.7 per cent higher than in the corresponding time of 2021 and 29.3 per cent below 2019 levels.
In addition, the largest passenger traffic was reported by Zagreb Airport with 148,000 passengers, which compared to last year marked an increase of 379.7 per cent, when this airport had only 31,000 passengers. It is followed by Split Airport, with 19,000 passengers, 228.6 per cent more than in 2021, and in third place is Dubrovnik Airport, with 9,000 passengers.
