Cyprus Ends Mask Mandate for Indoor Spaces Today
However, as the press release issued by the authority points out, the new law does not apply to some indoor spaces such as hospitals, senior people’s homes, facilities for vulnerable groups, health care facilities and public transport, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
In addition, visits to patients in public and private healthcare facilities are allowed with a maximum of two persons per day, provided a PCR or antigen test has been completed 48 hours before arrival.
“It is recommended to use masks in places where large numbers of people congregate, for people who belong to vulnerable groups of the population and for people who interact with high-risk people,” the Health Ministry explains in the press release.

As the Council of Ministers has recommended, COVID-19 restrictions can be dropped provided that the number of positive cases with the virus has decreased, in addition to the number of hospitalised individuals.
As the World Health Organisation (WHO) data points out, 1,774 positive cases with COVID-19 have been confirmed in Cyprus in the recent week, taking the total number of infection cases to 489,963. The number of deaths recorded in the country has reached 1,059, with two of those being reported in the last week.
