The recent comprehensive air traffic assessment published by the Director-General of Eurocontrol, Eamonn Brennan, shows that the top ten countries that recorded the highest number of average daily departure and arrival flights for a period from April 28 until May 4 are the following:
- The United Kingdom

Eurocontrol’s data reveals that there has been a total of 5,034 flights registered in the United Kingdom’s airports for a period from April 28 until May 4, marking a 5 per cent increase compared to the figures of the previous week, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
This means that the UK recorded the most significant number of average daily departure and arrival flights in European countries.
The statistics show that Germany registered a total of 4,698 flights, marking a 2 per cent increase compared to the previous week’s figures.
According to Eurocontrol, Spain recorded 4,499 flights from April 28 until May 4, which means that there has been a 2 per cent increase compared to the previous week’s data and a 9 per cent decrease compared to the data of the same period in 2019.
France has been ranked in the fourth position in the recent report of this organisation, with 3,957 flights registered, or a 2 per cent increase compared to the previous week and 12 per cent down compared to the same period in 2019 data.
At the same time, Italy has been placed in the fifth position with 3,345 flights registered within a week, a 1 per cent increase from the previous week and a 13 per cent decline from the same period in 2019.
Eurocontrol previously reported that there were registered an average of 25,426 flights for a period from April 21 until April 27, marking a 3 per cent increase compared to the previous week’s figures; 83 per cent of 2019 data.
“With the beginning of the Summer schedules, low-cost airlines have expanded capacities throughout the network as well as traditional airlines to a lesser extent, notably British Airways and Lufthansa,” the statement published by the organisation revealed. The figures for the same week brought to light the fact that there was a marked increase in some domestic flows such as Germany, UK and Turkey.
