Greece to Permit Non-EU Nationals to Leave and Return More Than Once Until Dec. 31, 2023
Through a statement, the same Ministry has announced that such a decision has been introduced as part of efforts to further ease the travel process for foreign citizens from third countries, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
It has been reported that in order to leave the country and enter again during the period mentioned above, third-country nationals must be holders of valid passports or other travel documents recognised by authorities in the Hellenic Republic and also meet the following requirements:
- Prove that they have completed all the required documents for the initial granting or renewal of a residence permit in line with the country’s Law.
- Present a certificate of legal residence following the country’s Law.
The statement provided by the Ministry of Citizen Protection, among others, notes that during the validity of the decision, all internationals from third countries are eligible to leave Greece and return to this country more than once.
“In addition, their re-entry to Greece is allowed until 12-31-2023, as long as they have left our country between 01-01-2022 and 12-31-2022, are the holders of the above documents and have not been issued in between a rejecting or revoking decision on their application for the grant/renewal of a residence permit or the special certificate of legal residence, respectively,” the statement notes, the statement notes.
Law 4251, provided in the Official Gazette on April 1, 2014, reveals significant reforms in the area of residence permits issued to third-country nationals and new arrangements for their social integration in Greece.
“In an effort to address the negative effects of the economic crisis in Greece, the Code of Migration and Integration attempts to institutionalise a series of Immigration Advisory Committees reflecting on the important role of social inclusion,” the statement notes.
Authorities in Greece adopted new changes to the existing legislation back in 2014 in order to further protect the rights of migrants.
Despite the fact that authorities in Greece are continuously attempting to ease the travel process for foreign nationals, the country is attempting to further strengthen the country’s borders.
Previously, the Minister of Citizens Protection of Greece, Takis Theodorikakos, stressed that a total of 700 new police officers graduating in September from Greece’s schools would be available to the country’s police.
