

Latvia Registers Nearly 250k Visitors in June, Twice More Than in 2021
At the same time, compared to the previous year’s statistics, the number of nights spent by travellers was 430,400, which is also two times more in comparison to 2021, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
In addition, the data show that in June 2022, 129,700 foreign visitors were welcomed in tourist accommodation establishments, thus marking an increase of 6.2 times more than in June 2021.
According to the figures, the number of nights spent by non-residents increased by 5.7 times and reached 232,100.
Compared to June 2021, the number of Latvian visitors hosted increased by 14.6 per cent and reached 116,200. Meanwhile, the number of nights spent by the country’s residents increased by 14.5 per cent and reached 198,300.
“In the second quarter of 2022, the number of foreign and resident visitors in Latvian tourist accommodation establishments comprised 556.3 thousand, which is 2.3 times more than in the second quarter of 2021,” the statement issued by Officials Statistics of Latvia reveals.
The same source emphasized that compared to the second quarter of a year ago, the number of visitor nights increased 2.2 times and reached 991,100 nights. In addition, visitors spent an average of 1.8 nights in tourist accommodation establishments.
At the same time, in the second quarter, the number of foreign visitors was 291,200, 6.7 times more than in the second quarter of 2021.
As a result, statistics reveal that the number of nights they spent increased 5.5 times and reached 541,300.
The countries from which more foreign visitors have come to Latvia are as follows:
- Lithuania, with 51,100 visitors
- Estonia with 39,000
- Germany with 33,700
- The United Kingdom with 19,400
- Finland with 17,700
- Ukraine with 11,700
- Poland with 11,600
- The USA, with 10,500
Most of these foreign visitors were received in Riga with 74.1 per cent, J?rmala with 9.6 per cent, Liep?ja with three per cent, Sigulda municipality with 1.5 per cent, and Ventspils with 1.3 per cent.
Moreover, during the second quarter of 2022, tourist accommodation facilities received 265,200 Latvian residents, which is 30.2 per cent more than in the second quarter of 2021. On the other hand, compared to a year ago, the number of nights spent by residents has increased by 24.9 per cent and amounts to 449,900.
