

Lithuania Imposes Stricter Quarantine Rules For Arrivals From Several Third Countries
Citizens of Argentina, Chile, and Puerto Rico will be subject to stricter isolation requirements from April 19 when entering Lithuania as the latter has placed these territories on the list of countries that are profoundly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The decision has been announced by Lithuania’s Ministry of Health, which at the same time has emphasized that for citizens of Belgium, Palestine, and Seychelles, the usual isolation requirements will continue to remain effective, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
The statement clarifies that the decision which will be put in place on April 19 will remain valid for a week.
A total of 232,829 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus pandemic, up to this point, while 3,751 persons have died, based on data provided by Worldometers. The same source reveals that 211,306 persons have fully recovered from the disease while there are 17,772 active cases.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic situation in Lithuania and other countries, the territory has introduced a nationwide lockdown.
“The Government has decided to introduce a three-week nationwide lockdown which is now prolonged till April 30. Some businesses will have to halt or reduce their operations, tighter infection control measures will be enforced, and work and education will be arranged with a minimum of contacts,” the statement of Lithuania’s Health Ministry clarifies.
At present, Lithuania permits the European Economic Area citizens and persons lawfully residing in any of these countries to enter its territory. However, entry for internationals from countries mainly outside the European Union and the European Economic Area(EEA) is limited to exceptional cases only as well as persons returning to Lithuania.
Since the beginning of last month, authorities in Lithuania announced that all persons arriving through transport organized and operated by carriers would be obliged to present a negative result of the COVID-19 test not older than 72 hours when entering the country.
The following persons are exempted from the COVID-19 test requirement:
- Crewmembers;
- persons who transit through Lithuania;
- persons who prove that they have fully recovered from the virus;
- persons who obtain a valid vaccination certificate;
- official delegations’ members travelling by carrier transport or otherwise;
- those under 16 years.
Last week, authorities in Lithuania announced that they imposed tighter preventive measures for all persons arriving in the country from Croatia and Turkey after taking into account the COVID-19 situation in these territories. Both countries’ citizens are obliged to submit a negative COVID-19 test result and remain self-isolated for ten days upon their arrival in Lithuania.
