Pakistani Students Risk Losing Admission to German Universities Due to Long Waiting Times for Student Visa
Pakistani students who have already been admitted to German universities for the winter semester 2022-2023, which starts in October, have said that they risk losing their admission if the German embassies in the country fail to make an appointment for them on time.
Thus, they have been urging the relevant authorities to take necessary actions as soon as possible, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
Several Pakistani students admitted to German universities have contacted SchengenVisaInfo.com to voice their concerns about the matter.
A student named Syeda Wania Anoosh Kazmi, who has been admitted to the University of Bamberg for the winter semester of 2022/2023, said that despite applying for a German student visa appointment in May 2022, she had not received an interview invitation yet.
“I applied for a visa appointment on the 27th of May 2022, but still unable to get an appointment; neither there is any chance to receive an email from the embassy in the coming next month, and my university is not allowing its students to arrive late. In this particular scenario, I’m going to lose one academic year, which is going to have detrimental effects on my career stability as well,” Kazmi stated.
According to the students, over 300 students intending to pursue their Master studies have already applied for a visa appointment at the German Embassy in Islamabad, and more than 250 of them are currently waiting for an appointment.
In addition, the students have said that the Embassy in Islamabad has a very limited number of appointments and takes up to a month to process the applications. Since the semester starts in October, the students fear that they will be unable to pursue their studies in Germany as planned.
“I applied for a visa appointment In March and am still waiting for a Visa interview appointment. German Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, is delaying appointments due to unknown reasons. The German Embassy in Islamabad isn’t giving appointments to any bachelor’s students since July 2022. The Visa process time is approximately one month. It is impossible to get a visa before classes start in this scenario,” another student named Muhammad Saad Alam said.
Despite the long waiting times, students face yet another problem as it is not guaranteed that the German Embassy will issue them visas even if appointments are made on time.
Students from other countries have also been complaining about long waiting times for German student visas. Earlier in August, SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that Moroccan students planning to pursue their studies in Germany have been facing visa problems.
Taking into account the processing delays as well as the limited number of applications, an online petition requiring that Moroccan students no longer face student visa problems gathered tens of signatories.
