

Poland Granted Highest Number of Temporary Protection Status to Ukrainians Last October
According to the recent report provided by Eurostat, Poland granted a total of 54,520 temporary protection statuses to Ukrainian citizens in October this year, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
The same noted that Poland was followed by Germany (37,595), Italy (8,620), Romania (8,425) and Bulgaria (7,250).
“Compared with September 2022, the number of Ukrainians receiving temporary protection fell in 22 of the 26 EU Member States with available data. The largest decreases were observed in Germany (14,385 decline compared with September 2022), followed by Italy (3,750 decrease), Romania (-1,290) and Denmark (-1,020). Meanwhile, the only increases were recorded in Bulgaria (+2,770), Ireland (+1,210), Poland (+975) and Hungary (+20),” the report notes.
Eurostat revealed that Ukrainians benefited the most from Poland’s temporary protection status in Poland, in October, or a total of 1.01 million, and Germany, which granted this status to a total of 847,105 Ukrainians, followed by Spain (148,630) and Bulgaria (141,480).
The recent figures also revealed that in comparison to the population of each EU Member State, the most significant ratio of citizens of Ukraine granted protection in October this year per thousand inhabitants was recorded in the following countries:
- Estonia- 1.7 granted temporary protection status per thousand inhabitants
- Poland- (1.4)
- Ireland- (1.2)
- Bulgaria- (1.1)
“Poland granted the most significant number of temporary protections for Ukrainian children (persons under 18 years old) with a total of 12,445 (representing 23 per cent of Ukrainians granted protection in Poland in October 2022), followed by Germany (11,230, 30 per cent), Italy (2,715, 31 per cent) and Romania (2,500, 30 per cent),” the statement notes.
The data revealed that children under the age of 14 accounted for 68 per cent to 100 per cent of all Ukrainian children who were granted temporary protection.
The majority of Ukrainians who benefited from the temporary protection scheme were females.
According to Eurostat, the largest number of Ukrainian females who benefited from the temporary protection status were reported by authorities in the following countries:
Poland- a total of 34,190, or 63 per cent of Ukrainians who granted protection in Poland in October this year
- Germany (21,885, or 58 per cent)
- Italy (6,005 or 70 per cent)
- Romania (4,625 or 55 per cent)
At the same time, the highest number of temporary protection statuses granted to Ukrainian males were also reported by Poland, followed by Germany, Romania, and Bulgaria.
