Portugal Grants 200 Digital Nomad Visas in 2.5 Months
The same notes that citizens from the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazil benefited the most from this kind of visa issued by authorities in Portugal,AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
It has been reported that if foreigners like the year they are eligible to spend in Portugal are also allowed to apply for a five-year residency, and soon after, they can receive permanent residency, which is renewable every ten years.
In order to benefit from such a visa, internationals are required to have a monthly salary of over €3,040.
It has been emphasised that for those who work for a company, the rules remain the same. However, “they may present as proof a work contract, the promise of a contract or a statement from their employers proving the employment relationship”.
Authorities in Portugal previously revealed that the country would introduce a new work visa from which all those who love remote work can benefit.
Through the digital nomad visa holders are eligible to live and work remotely for companies outside Portugal in a lawful way.
Previously it was reported that the process of getting such a visa in Portugal could not be that easy, after Portugal is known for its byzantine bureaucracy when planning to benefit from such a visa, according to an American expat.
“There’s very little quality control in the process; you end up with somebody very good at one embassy or one appointment and then somebody at the next one who just says no. Just be prepared for a year of intense paperwork and bureaucracy of immigration,” Amy Leavitt, who traded retirement in Vermont for Aljezur, stressed regarding the issue, according to a Fortune report.
Portugal authorities are continuously attempting to bring to the country a large number of foreigners who would also positively contribute to the growth of the economic sector that recently has been highly affected by the spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.
Amid the spread of the Coronavirus, people considered remote work as a safe and productive way, while countries also started offering more visas for all visitors interested in remote jobs.
Up to this point, several countries such as Latvia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic offer such visas.
