Lithuania Imposes Stricter Self-Isolation Rules for Arrivals From Seven Countries
Citizens of seven countries will be subject to stricter quarantine requirements when entering Lithuania, as the latter’s authorities have placed these countries in their list of territories considered profoundly affected by the Coronavirus.
The recently imposed rule includes all persons planning to enter Lithuania’s territory from Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Lebanon, Jordan, and Seychelles and took effect on April 26, AtoZSerwisPlus.com reports.
According to a statement of Lithuania’s Ministry of Health, all persons wishing to enter Lithuania from territories that have recently reported high rates of Coronavirus disease must fill in an electronic form on the website of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), no earlier than 48 hours.
“The revised isolation exemptions on Friday stipulate that the isolation exemption will also apply to persons transporting pupils to school in another country daily, as well as to the employees of the Aviation Board of the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania,” the statement clarifies.
Following the updated quarantine rules, all persons will be required to prove that they have been exempted from the quarantine requirements.
The same ministry has clarified that it is mandatory to provide documents proving that persons are exempted from the isolation rules to NVSC specialists or officials who carry out inspections of isolation requirements, only if it is necessary.
As yet, authorities in Lithuania have registered 242,926 cases of COVID-19 infection, based on figures published by Worldometers.
Data shows that a total of 3,877 persons have died from the Coronavirus disease in Lithuania, while over 219,670 have fully recovered. Lithuania is the 65th most-affected country from the disease, with over 19,370 active cases.
Yesterday, authorities in Lithuania reported 241,872 confirmed COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours, an increase of 514 new cases compared to Sunday figures.
Following the example of many European countries, Lithuania’s government also tightened its preventive measures to halt the virus’s further spread.
Last week, Lithuania’s Ministry of Health announced that it imposed stricter quarantine rules for citizens of Chile, Puerto Rico, and Argentina, after estimating that these territories reported an increase in the number of infections caused by the virus.
Simultaneously, the same ministry announced that the quarantine requirements for citizens of Palestine, Seychelles, and Belgium would continue to be kept in place.
